A Message From Principal Diaz

September 2016

Strathern Families,

The 2016-17 school year is off to a great start.  Strathern students showed up ready for the first day of school with their school uniforms and eagerness for the upcoming school year.  Thank you students, parents, and Strathern staff for making the opening of school a success. This school year Strathern will work on…

  • Enhancing instruction to deliver and help students master the Common Core State Standards.
  • Integrating Technology into instruction so students build a capacity to utilize desktops into their learning.
  • Build collaborative practices in our learning so students work in teams to problem solve.
  • Prepare students for 21st Century skills by problem solving, analyzing, and integrating technology in our Computer Lab.

I look forward to the new school year and the opportunity to work with the great students, parents, and staff at Strathern.

Healthy Snacks

Parents please assist your child in making healthier choices like fruit, crackers, and juices. Please try to stay away from carbonated drinks, Cheetos, and candy.

Safety

  • Avoid walking alone
  • Never take a ride with or walk with a stranger
  •  If a stranger approaches or attempts to get the child into a vehicle, children should scream and run for help
  • Students should use precautionary measures, even while waiting inside of the school yard, until parents arrive
  •  Parents and students should maintain good communication about pick-up/drop-off times and locations
  • Never walk in an isolated area or alley

Tell students to immediately report anything that makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable to the police and/or a school staff member.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Diaz,

Principal

Parent Involvement

One way to show your child that school is important is to get involved in school activities. Show your child that you care about getting involved. One way is to join the school councils and / or PTA. Let your voice be heard and take part in Council meetings once a month.

Council Meetings

ELAC (English Learner Advisory Council) and SSC (School Site Council) will have Orientations and Elections on the following dates and times. Please come and participate in your child’s education.
