A Message From Principal Diaz

January 2016

Strathern Families,

Welcome back from Winter Break. I hope everyone had a restful break and had the opportunity to spend time with family and friends.

On Thursday, December 17, 2015 we mailed home the LAUSD District Title I Parent Involvement Policy, the Family- School Compact and the Strathern Parent Involvement Policy, included was also the January 2016 school calendar. If you did not receive please one call the main office. You may also want to take this opportunity to update your address.

Please make sure students dress appropriately for the changing weather. Wearing layers of clothing is best for the cold mornings that turn to warm afternoons. In addition, it’s always good practice to make sure student sweaters and jackets are labeled with student names in case they get left behind. All articles of clothing are placed in the lost and found near the main office. Please visit the lost and found for any missing items.

Student Safety

Please take some time and talk to your children about safe practices to use going to and from school. These may include:

  Avoid walking home alone

  Never take a ride with or walk with a stranger

  If a stranger approaches or attempts to get the child into a vehicle, children should scream and run for help

  Students should use precautionary measures, even while waiting inside of the school yard, until parents arrive

  Parents and students should maintain good communication about pick-up/drop-off times and locations
